Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
BlackTaleGames (“BlackTaleGames”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how personal data may be handled when you visit the BlackTaleGames website, play our games, contact us, or interact with our games through third-party platforms such as Steam or Meta.
BlackTaleGames is based in France and this policy is intended to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), and applicable French data-protection law, including the French Loi Informatique et Libertés.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
BlackTaleGames does not collect or retain personal data from you simply because you visit this website or play our games. In particular, BlackTaleGames does not operate its own user-account system and does not use gameplay data to build advertising or marketing profiles. We do not sell personal data.
2. Information You Voluntarily Provide
If you contact BlackTaleGames directly, including by email at contact@blacktalegames.com, we may receive your email address and any other information you choose to include in your correspondence. Such information is used only as necessary to respond to your request, provide support, manage legitimate business correspondence, or comply with applicable legal obligations. We do not use information submitted through support or general correspondence for unrelated advertising purposes. Personal information received through correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, or for any period required by applicable law.
3. Steam, Meta and Other Third-Party Platforms
Our games may be distributed through or interact with third-party platforms and services, including Steam and Meta. These platforms may independently collect and process information associated with your account, such as platform user identifiers, profile information, game ownership or entitlement information, achievements, cloud or platform functionality, and technical information necessary to operate their services. Where limited platform information is made available to a BlackTaleGames game solely to provide a platform feature, such as achievements, BlackTaleGames does not retain that information in its own user database unless specifically stated otherwise. Purchases are processed by the relevant platform; BlackTaleGames does not receive or store your payment-card or other payment credentials. Third-party processing is governed by the respective platform's privacy policy and terms.
4. Website and Cookies
The BlackTaleGames website does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies for behavioural advertising or user profiling. We do not use the website to create individual visitor profiles or sell visitor information. Externally provided or embedded content may be subject to the privacy practices of the relevant third-party provider.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
Where BlackTaleGames does process personal data, for example because you contact us directly, processing will rely on an appropriate legal basis under the GDPR. Depending on the circumstances, this may include taking steps at your request or performing a contract, our legitimate interests in responding to inquiries and providing support, compliance with a legal obligation, or your consent where specifically required. We process personal data only to the extent necessary for the relevant purpose.
6. Data Retention
BlackTaleGames does not maintain a database of website visitors or gameplay profiles. Information voluntarily provided to us, such as email correspondence, is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain necessary business records, resolve disputes, or comply with applicable legal obligations. When it is no longer necessary, it will be deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
7. Your Rights Under the GDPR
If BlackTaleGames holds personal data relating to you, you may have rights under the GDPR and applicable French law including access, rectification, erasure (“right to be forgotten”), restriction of processing, objection to certain processing, data portability where applicable, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise an applicable privacy right regarding information held by BlackTaleGames, contact contact@blacktalegames.com. Please provide enough information for us to understand your request and, where necessary, reasonably verify that the request relates to you. Because BlackTaleGames does not maintain its own database of Steam or Meta user accounts, requests concerning information held independently by those platforms should normally be addressed directly to the relevant platform.
8. Right to Lodge a Complaint — CNIL
If you believe that your personal data has been processed in violation of applicable data-protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. For BlackTaleGames in France, this is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL). This right exists independently of your ability to contact BlackTaleGames directly.
9. Children and Minors
The BlackTaleGames website and games are not directed at young children. Our games may contain combat, violence or other content that may not be appropriate for minors. Parents and legal guardians should review applicable age ratings, store-page information and platform requirements before allowing a minor to access a BlackTaleGames title. BlackTaleGames does not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through this website. Where consent would be required for processing a minor's personal data, applicable European and French rules concerning minors will apply. If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe a child has provided personal information directly to BlackTaleGames, contact us so the matter can be reviewed and, where appropriate, the information deleted.
10. Data Security
Where BlackTaleGames receives personal information directly, we take reasonable organisational and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No method of electronic communication or storage can, however, be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. International Services
Steam, Meta and other third-party services may process information in countries outside France or the European Economic Area. Processing carried out independently by those services is governed by their respective privacy policies and data-protection arrangements. BlackTaleGames does not independently transfer website visitor or gameplay-profile databases outside the European Economic Area because it does not maintain such databases.
12. External Links
This website may contain links to third-party websites and services, including Steam, Meta, YouTube and community platforms. BlackTaleGames is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information to them.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when necessary to reflect changes to our games, website, third-party platform integrations, legal requirements or privacy practices. The current version will be published on this page together with the date of the latest revision.
